It may be that caffeine intake is related to sleep among Pierce students. To address this question, use PSPP/SPSS and theStudent Survey_Complete.sav Download Student Survey_Complete.savdataset to determine the correlation between sleep at the beginning of the semester (Sleep) and caffeine intake (Caffei).

  1. Reportthe correlation and p-value from the PSPP/SPSS output.
  2. Based on the correlation and p-value, how strong is the correlation and is itstatistically significant?

We believe that sleep differences can predict caffeine intake. To explore this question, conduct a regression analysis using PSPP/SPSS and theStudent Survey_Complete.sav Download Student Survey_Complete.savdataset, with Sleep as the predictor (X, Independent Variable) and Caffeine as the criterion variable (Y, Dependent Variable).

  1. Reportthe prediction equation using the slope and y-intercept values from PSPP output.
  2. Provide an interpretation for the slope (b) and the y-intercept (a).
  3. If someone get 3 hours of sleep, what would be predict their caffeine intake to be?
