It this case it was inmates (Plantiffs) vs Oregon prison system. The lawsuit says the conditions violated the inmates' Eighth Amendment rights against cruel and unusual punishment. The prisons cited in the lawsuit were the Oregon State Penitentiary, Two Rivers Correctional Institution, Columbia River Correctional Institution, and Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. Prisoners who were incarcerated at the Oregon prison filed a lawsuit after allegedly being served spoiled food from the prison cafeteria. They stated the food sometimes had them feeling nausea, pain and intestinal distress. A prisoner that works in the cafeteria witnessed spoiled food was being prepared and served to inmates. It was reported the food smelled and tasted horrible. The case was thrown out because there was no actual evidence that claims the food was contaminated and made plaintiffs sick due to them serving about 44,000 meals per day and only a few becoming ill.

I personally don't support the decision because I believe sometimes just like everyday restaurants the cleanliness is not the best. I also feel like in a for profit prison some corners may be being cut. I hope that in this particular instance it was highly noted that this occurred, and that maybe more random inspection was happening.
