It's Friday September 8, 2017, the day after Equifax announced the data breach. The media coverage, public backlash and political pressure has been terrible and has put the company and the CEO (Rick Smith) in a very difficult position. Equifax is being chastised in all the headlines across social media, the internet, print and broadcast media. Employees have many questions and are experiencing many feelings and emotions related to the data breach and the bad media coverage.

CEO Rick Smith realizes he needs to get a message out to employees that addresses the data breach and some of the negative issues raised in the media coverage. He asks you, the Head of Internal Communications at Equifax (responsible for all communications with employees) to a blog posting from him targeted at all employees.

Rick Smith hopes that if the blog posting addresseseffectively the data breach, and acknowledges some of the negative points in the media coverage, he can win over employees and keep them motivated and focused on doing their jobs, and encourage them to help defend the company's reputation.He expects the internal blog posting will be leaked externally to the media. Therefore, he wants you to keep in mind that whatever we say to employees, we're also saying to the public.
