It's very easy to both agree and disagree with the concept of controllability, in my opinion. The concept itself seems quite sound, yet as we all know, in the 'real world', things can get very messy.Positions and responsibilities overlap and we find it more difficult to apply in reality than on paper. It's a great concept and one we should certainly keep in mind as we aim to assess performance. However, I think we also have to take a broader, more real world perspective on it when applying it as well, acknowledging that we work in teams and often times we have to take responsibility for the things that happen around us, despite our black and white job description.
