Jack is a travel blogger and is keen on purchasing a new mobile phone that he can use to keep his online followers updated of his travel experiences via social media platforms. He sees a mobile phone known as the "R1" being advertised for sale online by a major phone manufacturer Real Phones at a discounted price of $99 for a limited time only. The recommended retail price for the R1 is $990.

He immediately makes an online purchase of a R1 mobile phone and pays $99 with his credit card. He receives an email stating that his order is being processed and that he will be notified as soon as his order has been dispatched.

On the very next day he receives another email notifying him that due to a technical glitch, the R1 was intended to be sold at the discounted price of $499 and not $99. As such, his order cannot be processed and that his money paid earlier will be fully refunded. However, if he is keen on purchasing the R1 at the discounted price of $499 there is still some stock available.

The website has since updated the selling price of the R1 to the new discounted price of $499 to reflect the latest change.

Jack has sent an email to Real Phones insisting that he is entitled to purchase the R1 at the advertised price of $99 but the manufacturer has not responded to his email.
