Jaime presents as an intelligent and articulate young woman of 21. She tells you that she wants to get a life and that she is too old to be living on the streets. Jaime left home when she was 13 because of physical and sexual abuse from her stepfather. She had been living on the streets until she was 19. She occasionally stayed in refuges. She has also spent time in a Juvenile Detention Centre after being caught shoplifting and stealing a car. Jaime is extremely street wise and had supported herself through sex-work and stealing.

She misses her mother and younger sister whom she has not seen for 5 years. To make herself feel better in the past, Jaime had sniffed glue and lighter fluid. She had also relied on alcohol, drinking until she passed out so she could sleep.

Jaime would like to get an education but does doesn't know anyone who completed high school, so doesn't know how.

In the last two years Jaime has completed a residential youth treatment program for her substance use and has been able to obtain her own place to live through a youth housing program.

Jaime has been diagnosed with complex post-traumatic stress disorder and Jaime understands that this is from her experiences of sexual and physical abuse from her stepfather.
