Jamal operates a business of "homemade" bakery products. The bakery products are sold directly to customers (for parties or gifts etc) and supplied in bulk to local shops.Currently, an online catalogue of bakery recipes, prices, designs are made available. Orders are placed via telephone call or email.

A sales system starts when customers place their order by telephone or email. The orders are transferred to a multipart (3 part) order form. One copy of the order is passed to the kitchen. The customer orders are placed in sequencing by reference to the date to be delivered and the kitchen prepares a job list to make the bakery products. When the bakery products are completed, they are passed for packing.A delivery note is prepared, and one part is attached to a second copy of the order. The other part of the delivery note is sent with the bakery products to the customer. The final copy of the order is filed in customer order. At the end of each month, these are used to prepare invoices for customers. When payment is received, this is recorded in the customer accounts and a receipt is sent to the customer.

Jamal has lost a significant amount of money owing to poor payment by several customers and wants to improve his cash flow.
