Jason is a 16-year-old high school student living in the small Queensland country town of Mt Isa. In January 2021, Jason dropped out of school to undertake a paid, 2-year work experience program in a local gaming and computer repair store named "Everything Computers" (EC). Throughout the program, Jason was expected to develop significant skills in customer service as well as in hardware assembly and repair. The work experience agreement between Jason and EC stated that Jason must not work for the other computer repair store in Mt Isa, for a period of at least 1 year after he ceases to work for EC and that during the period of the work experience, Jason is not to take away any electronic equipment from EC without the prior written approval of Hagrid, the store manager. During the first year of his work, Jason took a large amount of new computer related equipment from EC and replaced it with old computer equipment from his home. This equipment included computer monitors, graphics cards and games. Jason did this on the few occasions when he was asked to close the store and Hagrid was not there. In total, Jason took equipment worth $3,900 from EC. In December 2021 (and in the lead up to the New Year), Hagrid carried out a stock-take of the store's inventory and noticed that some of Jason's old home equipment had been put out for sale. Hagrid then looked at footage from the store's security camera and discovered what Jason had been doing. After being confronted by Hagrid, Jason did not return to work and wrote Hagrid an email stating that he has started work at the other computer store in Mt Isa, and that EC has no ability to make a claim against him. Advise Hagrid whether the contract with Jason is enforceable and whether EC has any right to termination or claim damages from Jason. You must use ILAC to answer this question.
