JDK, the manufacturer of tire is testing if they can supply tires that only need rotation every T,000 kms which was initially at 5000 kms. This will help the our manufacturers to reduce the cost of car maintenance they provide with new cars and will also reduce the ownership cost of ours. JDK exports tire to European and Middle East countries too along with India. Thus they supply tire in all weather conditions and for multitude of car brands. Thus to study the rotation effect on the tire wear, they chose four different regions (block): {1)cold weather like in Switzerland, {2) hot and humid weather like in Chennai, (3) Hot and Dry like in Middle East (4) medium heat and humidity like in Delhi, and four different models (block): {1) Hatchback, (2) Sedan, (3) SUV, and (4) MUV from a car brand. If there is no signicant difference in thread wears between the front and rear tires within the 7,000 krns, then the JDK can claim that their tires do not need to be rotated before 7, 000 kms. The percentage of threadwearlife wom out aer 7,000 kms were measured from 4 cars equipped with new tires that are provided below. Data is provided in Table below. Analyze the data and draw conclusion at 5% level of signicance.
