Jean-Pierre hired an agent, Marie, to sell a quantity of furniture that he owned. Jean-Pierre instructed Marie to sell the furniture without disclosing his identity as owner. Marie eventually sold the furniture to Maison Talon, a furniture store. During the course of the negotiation between Marie and Maison Talon, Marie disclosed the fact that she was acting as an agent but did not disclose the identity of Jean-Pierre. Marie and Maison Talon entered into a contract. Then Maison Talon discovered that Jean-Pierre was the owner of the furniture. Jean-Pierre then decided not to deliver the furniture.
