Jeremy is a plumber. He has for some years worked for Maisy who owns a number of very expensive apartments in Brighton which are let to visitors. There are frequently plumbing problems in the flats and Maisy has a contractual arrangement with Jeremy pursuant to which he works for her for up to 80 hours a month for a flat fee of £2000 per month. In March Maisy begins to feel the effect of the general economic downturn and, while she still has tenants for most of her apartments and plumbing problems persist a number of her flats are unlet. The result is that she cannot afford to pay Jeremy £2000 per month. Jeremy is also in financial difficulties as he is losing other clients. He reluctantly agrees to continuing working up to 80 hours per month for Maisy but at a monthly fee of £1500 until "the market improves". By October Maisy is in severe financial difficulties and has not paid Jeremy anything for three months. Jeremy wants to continue working for Maisy but at the original rate.

Advise Jeremy of his rights if any against Maisy.
