Jeremy was admitted to the City Hospital emergency room after sustaining injuries in a car accident. He and another person were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Jeremy had been speeding to deliver take out from his employer Good Food Inc. Jeremy receives bonuses for "on time deliveries." Jeremy's car struck a pedestrian who was crossing a busy street that did not have a cross walk. Jeremy's employer has warned him in the past about his speeding while delivering its products and stated if he is caught speeding again he will be terminated. The Pedestrian was knocked unconscious and suffered injuries including a broken leg and broken ribs. Jeremy lost control of the vehicle after striking the pedestrian and his car slammed into a wall. Jeremy was not wearing a seat belt and suffered broken ribs and a serious concussion. Upon arrival at the hospital Jeremy was read his rights and arrested for causing the accident. Jeremy refused to make a statement to the police and/or participate in a breathalyzer test to determine his blood alcohol content at the time of the accident.
