Joe is a 13-year-old student in junior high school, who is also a member of the school's soccer team and has several friends. Joe's parents recently sat him down and told him they have decided to get a divorce. Joe finds out that his parents will be selling the house, and he will be forced to move to a different state with his mother at the beginning of next school year. He is extremely sad about his parents' decision, and feels as though he must have done something to cause the divorce. Joe has started giving away his valuables and telling his friends goodbye. Some of his friends have even noticed strange cuts on his arms and heard him make comments, like "I wish this all would just end."
