Joe is the owner of the Lame Duck restaurant and is approached by Monica, a wedding planner. Monica tells Joe that she is acting on behalf of Billy C, a local celebrity who is known to be getting married next month. Monica explains that Billy C wants to book The Lame Duck restaurant for the wedding. Joe accepts the booking and informs his regular customers that the restaurant will be closed for a private function on the night of the wedding. The day before the wedding, Joe learns that his restaurant was just one of several restaurants approached by Monica, and that Billy C has decidedtouseadifferentrestaurant.Monicaapologises,explainsthatshemadeamistakeandthat Billy C never authorised her to book The Lame Duck.

Meanwhile Joe's restaurant also receives a delivery of cheese from its supplier Charlie's Cheese. Afterseveralcustomersbecomeill,itisdiscoveredthatunbeknownsttotheLameDuckRestaurant, the cheese it has received from Charlie's Cheese is actually taintedwitha highly contagious fungus.

Karen'sKitchen-anotherrestaurantwhichisnextdoortotheLameDuckrestaurant-andallstores selling any kind of food within a 100 metre radius of the Lame Duck restaurant are closed down under quarantine for a month in accordance with regulations set by the NSW State Health Department. Karen's Kitchen loses a month worth of profit.
