John, a farmer, is approached by Bill who wants to buy 10 acres of his farm. The parcel that Bill wants to buy is on the corner of two roads and would thus have frontage on two different streets. The normal price for farmland in the area is $2,000 per acre. Bill is willing to pay up to $2,500 per acre. John decides to sign the contract for the sale of the 10 acres to Bill. After the paperwork is all taken care of, Bill lets it slip that he is not the principal, but an agent for Walmart. John is angry, because if he knew that the buyer was Walmart, he would have demanded a higher price for his land.
