John Davis is a forty-two-year-old caucasian male. John comes from a very good childhood where he has two loving parents who have been married for a long time and have done very well for themselves. John has two sisters and one brother, and in which they have had a loving relationship. John always talked about enlisting in the military when he graduated high school, he said he felt that he was called to serve his country, and he wanted to be a help to others. John was a very smart, bright kid, and his parents said he was always mature for his age. At 18, he enlisted in the army, and at 21, he married Kate, whom he also met in the military. After being married briefly, John and Kate went to the Iraq war from 2003 to 2009 for six years. John was notified in 2009 that Kate was killed during a bombing, During this time in the war, John stated how they lived in tents and could not trust any civilians, including the children there. John told stories of children walking up with bombs and how they had to kill women and children to save themselves and others. John, in 2009, was sent home to bury his wife. Due to everything that John experienced in the war and the loss of his wife, his family noticed that John would begin to stay away from them and not answer their calls or the door when they came over. He would state he didn't want any company. He was always on edge, could not concentrate, and was angry and aggressive. John blamed himself for what happened to his wife and discussed how they discussed having a family after the war ended and they returned home. John's mother stated that he had no positive thoughts and that he stayed up often, not getting enough rest. John started drinking to try and get rid of his pain. He would drink to get rid of the flashbacks where he would relive the traumatic events that happened and also the day he was told that his wife was killed. John's parents tried to get him out of the house and help him live again. To appease them, John would go out to bars, where he began hanging out with this crowd of troubled guys. John began using drugs and alcohol and began being very aggressive with his parents, yelling and screaming at them and having rage, breaking and damaging things in their home. His parents tried to get him help, but he would not go, so they put John out of their home. John ended up on the streets and with the troubled bar crowd of guys he made friends with. John was arrested for drug trafficking, where he was caught with cocaine intending to sell, and was high at the time. When the police arrested John, he resisted arrest and fought back with the police. Due to this being John's first offense, he might be sentenced to 10 years, but his parents are trying to help get the sentence down since John served in the army and has dealt with traumatic events in his life. John was diagnosed with PTSD, prolonged grief disorder, anxiety, situational depression, and substance use disorder.
