John Mpanza owns a house in Glitztown. Ben Goliath and Phumlani Damayi are students in the dramatic arts and they rent rooms in Mpanza's house, close to the drama school that they attend. Due to financial problems at home, Ben is unable to pay his rent, and he is concerned that he may end up on the street. While Phumlani is not in his room, Ben slips into his room to access a folder on Phumlani's computer with story lines and plot plans which Phumlani has told him about. To raise money for his rent, he approaches Isha Venka, a lecturer at the art school and well-known playwright, with one of Phumlani's ideas. Venka loves the storyline and rewards Ben with enough money to cover his rent. When Venka shares this storyline in class, Phumlani realises that his idea was stolen. In a fit of rage he posts on Facebook that Venka is "a thief".
