Jonas was awarded a study bursary by the Bank of America to study towards an accounting degree at the University of Southern California. The terms and conditions of the bursary awarded were inter alia that the bank will pay for his studies and in return Jonas will work for the bank on completion of his studies for 5 years. Bank of America complied with its obligations, however, Jonas after completing of his studies failed to comply with his obligations as he resigned prematurely in his first year of employment at the bank. Jonas at the time of signing the bursary contract was 14 years.
