Journal #1: Non-Profit Site and Identification of Sample Consumer (10 points) Using one non-profit site that you have chosen in your discussion board (DB#3), you will discuss the site here in Journal One. First, identify the non-profit agency, include their address, contact information, and website (if available). This can just be listed at the start of the journal. Then, in narrative format, describe the agency and the programs that it offers. This should be a general description of the focus of the agency. Do not just cut/paste large chunks of information from the agency website; paraphrase and provide citations each and every time you take info from their site whether or not it is a direct quote. Because you will be using information from a website or brochure, be sure to provide a citation. You should answer the following in Journal #1: What is the mission of the agency? (with citations, use quotation marks if you use direct quotes) What is the specific population that they serve (e.g., "consumers") and the social issue that they address? Exactly how do they address the social issue? How do they get their funding and resources? (in specific detail) How does this agency's work impact the community? What would happen if this agency disappeared from the community? In what specific ways has the agency been impacted by COVID-19? Who is their most common consumer? (describe demographics, including age, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, etc.). Last, write one paragraph creating a sample consumer based on the site's most common consumers. This could be one person, or it could be a family. Create a name or initials for this consumer, describe their Big 8 Identity Factors (see "Tips on Application Paper" for what the Big 8 includes). This is the consumer you will be using the remainder of the semester in Journals 2-5.
