Joy has been married to Franz, a lawful permanent resident, for three years. Franz is very controlling and demanding and he threatens her a lot if she doesn't do things just as he wants them. She is not allowed to have any money or friends of her own. He has a green card but refuses to file any papers for Joy. He has hit her twice causing black and blue marks.
