Ashley wanted to make sure she installed the right one in her new restaurant, so she did lots of research on the internet to identify the possible selections. After Visiting several manufacturers' websites, she narrowed her choice down to two commercial ranges: the FOX 950, a gas cooktop with an electric oven for $5000, because cooking with gas was exible; and the more expensive Hiking 760 for $7000, an electric oven with an induction cooktop, because it gave off less heat and the kitchen would remain cooler. She visited the Restaurant Association website and saw that the Association ranked the Hiking induction cooktop rst in its category. Later, when discussing the cost of kitchen appliances with Bill, her insurance agent, Bill told Ashley that she would get a reduced insurance rate for an induction range because the risk of re was less. In the long run this could offset the higher price. Bill referred her to Smith's Appliance, where he knew she could see both oor models. Bill neglected to tell Ashley that Smith's Appliance was owned by his parents. The clerk at the appliance store said both ranges were excellent, and her choice depended on whether the exibility of gas or the coolness of induction was most important to her; the clerk's personal preference was induction. Ashley called Bill from the store, and he conrmed that induction would mean a $500 savings on her property insurance premium. Bill knew this because a previous client had saved this much; he did not think it was necessary to call the insurance company for a quote. Ashley ordered the Hiking induction stove and paid the extra $2000. Unfortunately, once the stove was installed and working, the kitchen was not cool. The electric oven threw so much heat that it was necessary to recongure the air conditioning to cool down the kitchen at a cost of $4000.
