JUDICIAL ELECTIONS AND VOTING

1.)Is it a problem that most voters don't look beyond the judicial candidates' party label when voting in judicial elections? Why or why not?

2.)Is the removal of the straight-ticket vote a way to weaken Democrats' efforts to win judicial seats, or is it a way to ensure that voters will be knowledgeable when they vote for candidates? Does the 2020 election suggest that the ban on straight-ticket voting was meaningless?

3.)If the large number of judicial candidates on the ballot is a problem, what solution would you propose?

STATE PREEMPTION OF LOCAL LAWS

1.)Should cities be allowed to legislate without preemption by the state?

2.)If the state does preempt local legislation, is there any reason for local governments to exist?

3.)Would states continue to preempt local legislation if state legislatures and local governments shared the same political party control?
