Julia has found that her teacher often believes the excuses she has made up for not getting her homework done. At first, all Julia needs to do is pout a bit and say, "Oh, I forgot it. But after a few weeks her teacher no longer accepts this excuse, so instead she pouts a bit more dramatically and whines, "I really tried to do it, Ms. Smith, but I didn't feel well, and my mom made me go to bed before I could get it done."
