Julie is a recently divorced single mother of two young children - both in childcare during her work hours. Her family live in Hong Kong, and due to financial constraints visits are rare. Julie is a competent worker, but she is sometimes late to work, or has to take the day off, or leave work early if her children are unwell because she has no support network to assist her with this issue. Julie takes pride in doing her job well, and these interruptions to her attendance at work put her behind schedule. Julie feels judged as 'lazy' by at least one of her colleagues. He told her so in the lift after work one day, and he shook his fist in her face and told her in a threatening voice to 'pull her weight at work'. On other occasions, he has made racist remarks to her in a tone of voice she finds intimidating./harassment and discrimination and racism
