The noise level in the factory is uncomfortable, with no ear protection provided, making it difficult for Sarah to concentrate on her tasks. The lack of proper ventilation leads to poor air quality, leaving her feeling fatigued and often suffering from headaches. Keeping safe is a constant concern in this environment. Sarah notices broken equipment that has not been repaired or replaced, posing a risk of accidents. The absence of safety protocols and training leaves workers vulnerable to injuries – especially new workers – and she often witnesses near-miss incidents. The factory management seems unconcerned about these hazards, instead prioritising productivity over employee well-being. Management has little interest in hearing about these kinds of issues and the potential impact on the workforce and insist that the factory is “compliant” with every regulation. There is little opportunity for growth, skill development or advancement. Training programs are non-existent, and promotions are rare.
