1. It can be difficult for a new manager to fit in to the role because they are new to the organization. Not only does the manager have to learn the ins and out of the business, but he/she has to also get to know the people they are managing. New managers also have to figure out how to balance all the demands from both the team and stakeholders. Each of these groups have their own expectations and interests. Another challenge is to figure out how to handle confrontation between individuals and teams, which can be especially more difficult as a new manager because he/she needs understand the person and the team to figure out how to best negotiate with them. 2. As a new manager, he/she is considered an outsider, so they can hold team meetings to give everyone a chance to get to know them. These meetings should be held frequently in the early stages of their management. During these meetings the manager can ask what sorts of things should be changed about how the team operates, what should not change, etc. Allowing a discussion between the manager and his/her team will allow everyone to get to know one another and understand what their priorities are. A manager can also meet one-on-one with team members to get an understanding as to what they are working on, past work progress, and how that individual works in a team. Holding these meetings with teams and individuals will show the employees that their managers are willing to get to know them. The manager will also become accustomed to the ways of the organization and how to effectively run it as a new leader. 3. I think that being understanding of different perspectives and that not everyone will think the way I do is important to have a healthy and productive discussion between my team. To encourage different perspectives to be heard, I will ensure that I have an understanding of everyone's culture. The textbook said that team members can broaden their mind, to surround themselves with people from different cultures. Not everyone was raised the same way I was, or value the same things I do, but that doesn't mean I can't give them a chance to be understood. As a team member, welcoming diversity of culture will provide an effective process of problem solving and decision-making. 396 words
