Kellogg's claims that the reduced fat version of its Cheez-It baked snack crackers tastes just as good as the original. However, consumers typically have the opinion that foods which have been altered in order to improve their nutritional value do not taste as good as the original. To investigate, a statistics class conducted a blind taste test in order to determine if students prefer regular Cheez-It baked snack crackers to reduced fat Cheez-It snack crackers.

Experimental Design: The taste test was blinded, meaning that the students that participated were unaware of whether the cracker they were tasting was a reduced fat Cheez-It or an original Cheez-It. The two bags of Cheez-It crackers were labeled "Heads" and "Tails." Students flipped a coin to determine the order of tasting, as responses may depend on which cracker is tasted first. The side that the coin landed on corresponded to the cracker which the student tasted first. After tasting each cracker, students gave a taste rating from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best. As knowledge of how previous students have rated the crackers may influence the responses of later students, each student recorded their taste ratings on a slip of paper. After all participating students gave their ratings, it was revealed which bag contained reduced fat Cheez-It crackers and which bag contained original Cheez-It crackers. The results are shown in the table below.
