KFI has had an employee bonus plan in place for several years. In 2022, a year in which bonuses were low, several employees questioned the bonus calculation and speculated that the amount available in the bonus pool is whatever management wants it to be. The employee discontent has led KFI management to request that an engagement be performed on the bonus calculation for 2023 and beyond. Management is not sure what type of engagement would meet its needs. The key outcome desired by management is a relationship of trust and transparency between employees and KFI. Details of the bonus calculation, per discussion with management, are as follows: 1. 2. Bonuses are only paid when EPS (basic and diluted) exceeds $3.00. The amount available to pay out in employee bonuses is calculated as 10% of net earnings, per the audited financial statements. The total bonus payout as calculated in #2 is allocated to KFI's departments based on the number of employees working in each department at period end. There are five departments at KFI. The amounts provided to the five departments are then allocated to individual employees based on their performance score for the year. The department heads, with input from the human resources manager, assign a performance score to each employee based on a scale of 1 to 4, as outlined below: Performance score Description Allocation of bonus pool The employees who score a 1 do not receive bonuses. For the remaining employees, 50% of the bonus pool is divided equally among those with a score of 4, 35% of the bonus pool is divided equally among those with a score of 3, and the remaining 15% is divided equally among those with a score of 2. The majority of employees will receive a score of 2, and smaller numbers will receive scores of 3 and 4 respectively. Task #3 Provide management with a list of procedures that could be performed for the engagement you've selected in Task #2, including overall considerations and specific procedures for the steps of the bonus calculation
