Kittrell owned four house trailers that were parked on the edge of his property. Unknown to

Kittrell, the trailers extended a few feet onto his neighbor's property. This condition was

discovered by a survey after the trailers had been there several years. At the time, Kittrell

offered to buy the strip of land on which the trailers encroached. The owner refused to sell,

but because permanent plumbing had been installed, he did not order the trailers to be

moved. Several years later, the property was sold and the new owner demanded that Kittrell

remove the trailers. Kittrell claimed ownership of the strip by adverse possession because the

trailers had encroached on the land for more than 10 years, the statutory period in the state.

Discuss the validity of Kittrell's claim. Kittrell v. Scarborough, 287 Ala. 177, 249 So.2d 814

(1971).
