Kumar (2009) briefly explains the five dysfunctions of a team introduced by Lencioni in 2002. Choose one of the five dysfunctions and explain the dysfunction in detail. How does this one area erode the entire team?
Response: The five dysfunctions of team introduced by Lencioni in 2002, are absence of truth, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results. The absence of truth, there is no trust within the team, there is no initiation to reach out for help from one another, there is animosity and therefore are not cohesive when meeting. Fear of conflict, due to the lack of trust, there are more concerns about the politics which makes gatherings more controversial. Lack of commitment, conflict is avoided so there is no chance of failure. There is second guessing which makes decision making difficult. Avoidance of accountability which leads to timelines not being met, the second guessing is affecting the performance overall. Inattention to results, there is not clear focus and the objectives have also become non-existent, there is much distraction and individuals have a hard time focusing. (Executive Agenda, 2019). The dysfunction that erodes the team in my opinion is the Fear of conflict, as there is no communication so there won't be any conflict, the avoidance of an issue rather than facing what the problem is and solving it as a team.
Does the response answer the question if so how does it if it doesn't how can it be made better.
