Lab #3 - File sharing

Overview

In this lab you will practice configuring both password and password-less sharing on Windows 10. You will create a "Lab" folder on your "KW-01" machine and share it using best practices with password less sharing under Windows 10 (similar to the removed feature of a HomeGroup). You will then turn password sharing on and create a folder named "Programming" and share it using a username of the first 8 characters of your first name, and a password of your choosing.

Preparation

Ensure you are using Oracle VirtualBox to run virtual machines of Windows 10. Setup a Windows 10 virtual machine named KW-01 and KW-02, per previous lab instructions. Ensure you have the computer names properly set, and both are using same virtual NAT Network in VirtualBox and can communicate with each other (you do not need to show this in the lab, but it is required for your lab to be done).

Lab Requirements

Windows 10 machine on vSphere You will create a "Lab" folder on your 01 machine and share it using best practices for password-less sharing with your 02 machine. Create this folder on your 01 machine under "C:\". Create a text document (ie. Notepad) in this folder on your 01 machine that you will use to demonstrate the share is working (you may name this how you decide). Connect to your 01 machine from 02 and show this is working by accessing the share, clearly showing that the configuration is as requested. Remember -- password-less sharing is not the same as being authenticated without a prompt by having the same username and password on both machines! Someone with a different username and password should have access to the file share with the passwordless sharing.

In Your Lab Book

Follow the template for the lab submission and complete all sections. You should as noted in the lab book include screen shots that clearly show the above lab tasks being done, as well as any comments/material you find helpful in completing the tasks (and anything else notable as you proceed). In your reflections, what do you see as the pros/cons of each approach?
