She believes that persons who undergo this treatment will manifest fewer symptoms of mania and depression than persons who use only lithium. She has treated some clients with this talk therapy. Then she assessed all clients on the Bipolar Assessment Measurement for clinicians.She has accrued the data below and she has given it to you for analysis. .

Group A : This is the group that received talk therapy and meds

Group B: This is the group that received only the meds

  2. Move the variableTreatmentto theGrouping Variablefield, and move the variableBipolar severityto theTest Variable(s)area. NowTreatmentis defined as the independent variable andBipolar severityis defined as the dependent variable.
  3. ClickDefine Groups, which opens a new window.Use specified valuesis selected by default. Since our grouping variable is numerically coded (0 = Just lithium, 1 = Lithium and talk therapy), type "0" in the first text box, and "1" in the second text box. This indicates that we will compare groups 0 and 1, which correspond to groups respectively. ClickContinuewhen finished.
  4. ClickOKto run the Independent SamplestTest. Output for the analysis will display in the Output Viewer window.
