In this lab you will creating logic circuits that perform arithmetic and data routing operations. Don't worry if we haven't covered this in class yet, the lab manual does an excellent job explaining what you need to know. You will start to see that we are getting closer to the components needed to build our simple microprocessor. Continue testing to make sure they work correctly! The lab starts on page of your Lab Manual.
Notes:
This is the longest lab by far and worth the most points Don't be discouraged if it is taking you many hours to complete. This does not need to be done in one sitting. Plan on to or more hours total. You will need to work on this outside of class lab time.
The lab manual talks about writing a lab report. We will not be doing this. Your circuits will speak to your success on this project.
The manual includes a "Lab Report Grade Sheet" and "SelfAssessment Worksheet". These are not needed.
Make sure the file names and components match the required names exactly: Spelling, UpperLowercase Underscores.
Note: Task refers to Karaugh Maps. If we have not covered these in class yet, its ok The MUX you are designing can be done with AND's OR's, NOT's and just a little bit of thought. You don't need to use Kmaps for this simple problem.
Reminder: The best demos will have labeled binary switches or hex keypads on the left side, the circuit or components in the middle and labeled binary probes or hex displays on the right.
Your design must use Hex keypads and Hex displays when a bit number is being used. You will lose points for every circuit that does not use these! Notice the use of Hex keypads and a Hex display in the following example:
