Lab Experiment 2: The Lab Report consists of a Cover Page (this includes the title of your report, your name, the college you attend, instructor, date you wrote the report, date the report is due), a brief outline (highlighting the items your paper will cover and address - make sure this fills the whole page and do not leave any blank spaces. Then, on page 3 and so on this is your body and conclusion piece. Please look over the Research Problems in your textbook on page 33. Try to use as many resources possible to explain these concepts in greater detail. Remember to keep the format of Lab Experiment 1. Answer the following questions: 1) Find five countries whose energy intensity is significantly greater than that of the United States. Is there an obvious explanation for their greater energy intensity? Do any of these countries have anything in common? (Note: You may find territories of the United States listed as separate countries, but don't include them in your list.) 2) China has undergone rapid industrialization in recent decades, and its energy consumption has increased accordingly. What has happened to its energy intensity? Support your answer with a table or graph. 3) Find your state or country's per capita energy-consumption rate and compare it with the U.S. average of roughly 10k W per capita. What are some factors that might account for any difference?4) Which of the U.S. or world energy-use categories in Figure 2.6 has shown the most significant change in its percentage of the total over the past few decades? Support your answer with data. 5) France has pursued energy independence through reliance on nuclear power. Prepare a table or graph like the ones in Figure 2.6 showing France's energy use by category, and compare it with those graphs.FIGURE 2.6 Biomass 4.8% Hydro 6.8% Other 2.4% Other 2.5% Sources of energy in the mid- Hydro 2.5% Coal 18% Nuclear 4.4% 2010s, shown as percentages. Nuclear 8.5% Coal 30% (a) Some 82% of U.S. energy comes from fossil fuels. The "Other" category includes Gas 24% geothermal, wind, and solar energy. (b) Fossil fuels supply Gas 28% Oil 35% Oil 33% about 86% of the world's energy. Here the "Other" category includes biomass, geothermal, wind, and solar (a) (b) energy.RESEARCH PROBLEMS Find five countrieswhose energy intensity is signicantly greater than that of the United States. Which of the U.S. or world energyuse categories in Figure 2.6 has shown the most significant change in its percentage of the total over the past few decades? Sup port your answer with data. France has pursued energy independence through relir ance on nuclear power. Prepare a table or graph like the ones in Figure 2.6 showing France's energy use by catr egory, and compare it with those graphs. Find values for the United N ations' Human Development Index (HDI) for the countries included in Figure 2.? and prepare a similar graph showing HDI versusenergy con sumption. Is there any correlation between the two? Is a saturation effect obvious? If you can't discern a trend, add more countries to your plot. You can find the data on the UN Development Programme's web site, where the annual Human Development Report is available
