Lab is helping Zeon Company to maximize profit by combining five ingredients into regular and organic apple juice. Ingredients #1, #2 and #3 are pooled in a single storage tank. Ingredients #4 and #5 has its own storage tank. Regular apple juice is made by blending the pooled ingredients, ingredient #4 and ingredient #5. However, organic apple juice is made by blending the pooled ingredients and ingredient #5. The price of regular apple juice is $3.50 per litre, and the price of organic apple juice is $4.60 per litre. Furthermore, the price for ingredients #1, #3 and #4 is uniform at $2.20 per litre because Zeon Company purchased these ingredients from the same supplier in Ontario. However, prices for ingredients #2 and #5 are a little higher, which are $2.40 and $2.80 per litre, respectively. The following table shows the product specifications: Product Specifications Regular Apple Juice | At least 30% of ingredient 1 At least 15% of ingredient 2 At most 20% of ingredient 3 At least 10% of ingredient 4 At most, 5% of ingredient 5 Organic Apple Juice At most 30% of ingredient 1 At least 10% of ingredient 2 At least 25% of ingredient 3 At most 40% of ingredient 5 The maximum number of litres available for each of the five ingredients is as follows: 4000 (ingredient #1), 5000 (ingredient #2), 6000 (ingredient #3), 2500 (ingredient #4) and 1500 (ingredient #5), respectively. Amy, one of the ADMS 3330 students, has identified a part of the decision variables below: y = litres of ingredient 1 in the pooling tank y2 litres of ingredient 2 in the pooling tank y3 = litres of ingredient 3 in the pooling tank Please help Amy to answer the following questions: (a) Identify/define the rest of the decision variable/s. (b) State the objective function. (c) Formulate a nonlinear model. [Write all the constraints including non-negative constraint]
