Lang is a part-owner and junior manager of Ticker Tack Ltd. (TT), a software design and development company based in Perth. TT employs twenty permanent staff and often employs workers on a casual basis on internships or for certain work roles. A few of the permanent staff and many of the casuals employed by TT come from overseas and are usually female university students (but sometimes illegal immigrants - visa overstayers) looking for work. The illegal workers are willing to work well under the minimum wage, as they do not have much choice. One of Lang's partners has close ties to the WA Police, so these practises have not been investigated.

Lang's partners also prefer to employ female workers, as they will often work for less pay. In addition, one of Lang's business partners is a very staunch conservative Christian, so Lang has had to sack a few legitimate workers when it was discovered that they were members of the

LGBTQ community. Lang generally does not agree with these policies, but given she is the youngest manager feels compelled to accommodate her fellow manager's perspectives on how the business should be managed.

TT's hardware supply chains are mostly from Taiwan, however, they also source some materials from Vietnam. The microchips from Vietnam are much cheaper than the Taiwanese chips, however, Lang recently has been made aware of serious environmental damage to water systems near the supplier's factory in Da Nang, due to the supplier's poor waste disposal practices. Lang is under pressure from the other owners of TT to keep costs down, so she is conflicted about the situation. She understands her responsibilities to shareholders but also feels like she has an ethical responsibility to TT's other stakeholders.

Imagine that you work for Global Compact Network Australia, and are presenting to small businesses in Perth (including TT). Drawing on your experience and understanding of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, how would you advise about Lang's situation.
