Last Monday when Wambui came to work, she noticed that everybody kept away from her. Whenever she entered a room the occupants would walk out. One of her colleagues, Karani then SMSed her, "How dare you come to work when you are Covid-19 positive? Do you want to kill us all?" Wambui told Karani that this was not true. Karani then told her that he had heard the same from Wafula. Infact, Wafula had told several of her work colleagues that Wambui had been hospitalised for Covid-19 that past week when she was supposed to be on an out of town assignment. Wambui is then called by the Manager and handed a letter on a long pole which reads that she has been sent on unpaid compulsory leave for 14 days and can only return to work after securing a negative Covid-19 test from a reputable hospital. Wambui is devastated as word has spread all over Facebook and WhatsApp. Her work colleague Mutua on hearing the news posted, "To those who think that Covid-19 is not real: Pray for my work colleague Wambui to recover from Covid 19." He also attached a picture of her and tagged her to the post. As a result everyone in Wambui's Facebook including her neighbours are talking about it. Wambui's parents, who she lives with, have been turned away from the local market. Everyone has refused to sell groceries to them and they are now being treated as outcasts.
