Last year you recently started work as an employee of Powershop (an energy provider) in Australia, working in their IT department. You were pleased to secure this job and are proud to work for a company with such strong green credentials. So you were understandably very upset when it was announced in December 2021 by Meridian Group (the holding company owning Powershop) that they are selling it to Shell- the global giant fossil fuel company! Powershop bleeding customers after Shell takeover, amid 'greenwashing'! concerns ABC News The approval process by the regulators is about to be confirmed and Shell management have said they will pay loyalty bonuses quarterly for 2 years to ensure they do not lose workers at the takeover. You very much would like to receive these bonuses, but what should you do? Do you seek other work? Your family relies on your wages and the bonus in the current economic climate would be very beneficial. We are making an assumption for this assessment tosk, we are not concerned with any real decision by the organisations or authorities involved which may be made beyond the needed facts. Remember our focus is analysis and not description. This assignment provides a broader opportunity to apply ethics theory and the professional ACS code to a professional case/contemporary issue, plus. Students will be expected to analyse the given case/issue and comment on its ethical implications and make recommendations on appropriate responses, behaviour, and mitigation from the perspective of the employee not the business. This will be done by incorporating an ethical decision-making model. The case/issue is provided in the focus box for this assessment. We do not want a description of the theoretical principles, or for you to dwell on the reporting and include a summary description of facts. We do not want a business solution to this issue. We want a structured analysis of the ethical issues and application to a decision making model (use the one provided in Topic 1) to the question. Do you resign or seek other work? Students work will be assessed on their response to both tasks below: 1. An analysis of the ethical dilemma for the worker through the application to both ONE (1) ethical theory and the ACS code of ethics. The ethical theory selected should be different to Assessment 1. 1500 words. 5 2. The student will investigate multiple decision options for the worker, provide validation for the approach and incorporate the application of the Beemsterboer/Velasquez (Topic 1) ethical decision-making model (use the model's steps framework).
