Lavinia, a 17-year old student, finds that she can save a lot of money by renting a room near NUST instead of residing in the hostel. At the end of November 2019 she enters into a contract for the rental of a room for N$ 500 per month from Mr. Williams. While visiting her parents over the December holidays, she mentions to them that she is going to stay in a room when she returns for her second year of studies. Her parents are totally against this idea. They feel that it is too dangerous for her to stay on her own and her mother is particularly worried about the fact that she will not eat properly if she stays on her own. Subsequently, they tell her to cancel the contract and move back to the hostel.
