Leaders who provide recognition and appreciation creating a strong team spirit and high morale (Kouzes & Posner, 2017). 

Even if results are not significant or goals are not met, it is important to recognize the effort and hard work of individuals in their attempts. Of course, the gratitude must be sincere or it will not have meaning for the receiver.

This is not necessarily a research question, but rather 2 questions for the class discussion:

1. Has there been a time in your career where you did not receive recognition in the form of a simple "thank you" and how did that make you feel?
2. Reflect on your leadership and are you conscientious about spreading an "attitude of gratitude" in your work environment? Explain.
