Learning about the needs of my team and their preferred leadership style would boil down to communication. Followership is a co-opted outcome that is fostered through communication between the leader and the follower (Northouse, 2021, p. 354). I would use interviewing and possibly a survey or questionnaire to assess a supervisee's desired leadership style. Based on what I find out, and what I observe through their work, I would be willing to adapt my leadership style a fair amount. I believe that I could successfully adapt to an authoritarian style if needed; however, I would foresee a goal of that adaptation being to foster and grow that follower to a place that they did not need that type of oversight. I would struggle to adapt to laissez-faire type of leadership; however, if this fits the needs of the supervisee and the organization I would seek supervision and educate myself to meet that followers needs
