Based on what you've read about emotional intelligence (EQ), try to diagnose some characters from your favorite TV show. What aspects of EQ from the readings are these characters high or low in? If you are not sure what show to use, I highly recommend the show Silicon Valley as the entire premise of the show revolves around a group of people with low EQ who are suddenly thrust into leadership of a multimillion dollar start-up company. Big Bang Theory should also be a ripe target for your diagnosis. This first post should be within the first three days of the module. Be specific with respect to which component of EQ these characters are high or low in.
Also, make note of interactions in your everyday life. If you experience any awkward situations with coworkers, friends, staff at a restaurant or store, etc., try to explain it in terms of the person's EQ.

Quizzes and questionnaires are often used in the corporate world to assess the attitudes of their employees. One major issue involved in the change management process is overcoming employee resistance to change.
Search Google for "resistance to change questionnaire" or "resistance to change quiz" to assess your acceptance or resistance to change. Take the quiz and respond in approximately 200 words to the following:
- Discuss whether or not you think this quiz is accurate and would be useful to managers engaged in an organizational change effort.
- Could the quiz you took be used to help management adapt their leadership style during times of change?

Hi Class,
I found it very interesting to read the background material about Emotional Intelligence or EQ- Emotional Quotient. Which is defined as person's ability to recognize, understand and reason with emotions. Having a higher EQ means that a person had a stronger or greater ability to use emotional understanding to make decisions, solve problems that may come their way and also to communicate with others effectively.
The TV show that I chose to diagnose the EQ of its characters is Schitt's Creek. This is a canadian comedy show that aired from 2015 to 2020 and had 80 episodes over six seasons. It's one of my favorite shows so I thought it would be really fun to analyze the characters using the background material and how they grew in the show from the first episode to the finale. David Rose who is the son of Johnny Rose is the most open-minded of the family, however he is often overly critical of himself and lacks confidence until he meets Patrick who he ends up dating and who helps him believe in himself. Alexis Rose is the most optimistic and she always see the good in anything that happens to her, however she is also very self-absorbed until she meets Ted who is a veterinarian, and he shows her how to care for others and not just herself. In analyzing this show it's easy to see how the screen writers grew the characters from the first episodes highlighting the negative qualities and low EQ traits to showing them in the final season as having high EQ and learning from each other to be better people overall.

One of my favorite tv shows of all time would have to be The Office. Regarding the five components of EQ, I would like to focus on one character from this show. The one and only, Michael Scott. Michael Scott is one of the most least self-aware leaders I have ever seen. He is very out there regarding his leadership and has no awareness to the way he acts in most situations. Michael Scott is also not a very notable self-regulator. He is oblivious to the extent of how far an individual can go in certain situations and usually requires a third party to stop him from doing anything to drastic. When it comes to motivation, Michael Scott was extremely motivated every single day. He was always looking for new ways to motivate his employees. He is also a very empathetic leader. He wanted to always understand what was wrong with his employees the best he could. Social Skills are definitely not Michael Scotts strong suit within the workplace. He does not have the ability to understand when enough is enough with a third party. He cannot pickup on social cues at all.
There have been a few situations where I have had awkward encounters with individuals in public places. One instance is where I ran into a co worker of mine at Wal-Mart, but I did not have much time to waste. This co worker is a big talker and continued to talk regardless of the social cues that I was giving him that I was trying to leave. This co workers EQ was not very high especially when it comes to the social skills aspect.
