Length of Horror Movies. The iconic movie director Alfred Hitchcock famously said that the length of a movie "should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder". While this might sound funny, there is concern amongst scientists regarding the effects of watching long horror movies (i.e. longer than 90 minutes). A quick scan through the horror movies available on Netflix for Halloween this year seems to indicate that the more recent movies are longer than the scientifically preferred upper bound of 90 minutes. IMDB provides a database with information on movie runtimes, for various categories. We have selected to analyze the data from a random sample of 600 movies released in the last 20 years. The average runtime for this sample was calculated to be 90.2 minutes, with a standard deviation of 5.23. The questions below address several of the steps for constructing a test of hypotheses for the mean runtime of the horror movies released in the last 20 years. Perform these steps and select the correct answers among those provided below: 1. What is the value of the mean horror movie runtime under the null hypothesis? [Select] 2. What is the test statistic for testing the scientific claim in this study? Please note the answers offered are rounded to 2 decimal places. [Select] 3. What are the degrees of freedom for the t-distribution of the test statistic above? [Select] 4. Which of the 6 graphs shown below correctly describes the alternative hypothesis for this problem? [Select] 5. Assuming the computed p-value is 0.1738, there is [Select] against the null hypothesis. evidence A t 0 D B C to E t 0 F IMDB provides a database with information on movie runtimes, for various categories.
