Let's say that we are interested in seeing if increasing awareness of the problems associated with excessive alcohol drinking will decrease its use on college campuses. We know that in the USA the average college student consumes 6 drinks a week. We also know that the standard deviation for this population is 1.23. We run our awareness campaign on several campuses and take a sample of 500 students. We find that following the campaign students consume an average of 5 drinks per week. Did our intervention work given a criterion of 5%?
