Building Essay Content
Keep building your essay content this week.
A good way to do this follows:
Introduction:
- leads your readers into your topic by describing the issue of academic honesty and the relationship to plagiarism (example of a thesis or topic)
- provides the main idea statement (see above)
Body paragraphs:
- first body paragraph: reason 1 of your main idea statement
- first piece of evidence to support this reason
- second piece of evidence to support this reason
- second body paragraph: reason 2
- first piece of evidence to support this reason
- second piece of evidence to support this reason
- third body paragraph: reason 3
- first piece of evidence to support this reason
- second piece of evidence to support this reason
Conclusion:
- restates the main ideas stated in your introduction
- provides a reflection on your use of the elements of academic honesty that you address in this essay
Follow this pattern throughout the essay to support each reason with evidence and tie each paragraph back to your thesis.
