Lewin's Three-Step Model's change theory provides an effective framework for creating strategic plans. Three stages make up this model: unfreezing, altering, and refreezing (Mulholland, 2021). In order to unfreeze an organization, it must first become aware of the need for change and overcome any resistance to it. Second, altering entails putting into practice the necessary adjustments, whether they be procedural, cultural, or structural. Refreezing, the final step, entails stabilizing the modifications and incorporating them into the company's routine procedures to guarantee they become the new standard. Lewin's Three-Step Model was chosen because of its methodical approach to change management (Mulholland, 2021). This model provides a thorough approach to accomplishing successful organizational transformation by emphasizing the significance of anticipating change, executing it skillfully, and reinforcing it. But there could be difficulties at every turn in the procedure. During the unfreezing phase, common issues include resistance to change, unclear communication, and insufficient leadership support. The complexity of the changes being implemented, stakeholder resistance, or a lack of resources can all cause problems during the changing phase. Lastly, maintaining the modifications and avoiding a relapse into previous habits or behaviors can prove to be quite difficult during the refreezing phase (Mulholland, 2021). An instance of this theory being implemented in a community organization during a recent unforeseen event could be the abrupt transition to remote work amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Employee reluctance and uncertainty at first (unfreezing), but organizations were able to successfully adjust to remote work through effective communication, leadership support, and the implementation of required tools and processes (changing). But maintaining this shift and refreezingthat is, incorporating remote work practices into the organization's culturepresented continuous difficulties, including problems with worker collaboration, well-being, and communication.
