Lima Mataba is a Policy analyst at Zambia Economic Research and Publications department a quasi-body under the Ministry of Commerce. He was employed by ZERP on 20th January 2013 as a senior analyst on a Four year fixed term contract, with a three months period of probation. On 1st March 2013, he received a letter of termination of his contract of employment. On 10th March, Mr Mataba wrote a letter to the employer and a copy to the head of human resources at the Ministry of Commerce over the termination of employment which had no response. He wrote another letter on 30th September which he personally delivered but no response was given by the ministry or ZERP.

Mr Mataba feels mentally disturbed, frustrated and shocked because of the lack of concern and treatment by his former employer. This is exacerbated by the fact that he resigned from his position as Executive Director Research at the World Economic Policy Organisation so that he could take up a position in his country of birth and contribute positively.

Using case law and relevant authorities, discuss the matters in issue and give Mr Mataba advice.
