1. The melting temperature of tin-lead solders was tested using different percentages of tin in the alloy and the values are recorded below. By hand, perform the following: a. Hypothesis a model for how the percentage of tin in the solder affects the melting temperature of the solder. b. Find SSxx, SSyy, SSxy for the data. c. Use a least squares estimate to find the parameters , and B, and state your least squares line. d. Find SSE for the data. Estimate the standard deviation of the error term of your model. Test a hypothesis to show whether your model has significance with a t sample statistic compared to its critical value at a = 0.05. How many degrees of freedom does the model have? Find the r value for your model. What does that value mean? Find the 95% confidence interval for the average melting temperature of solders made with 4% tin. i. Find the 95% prediction interval for the melting temperature of a single solder made with 4% tin. j. What does your model say about a solder made with 25% tin? (12 marks) Tin % Melting Point (C) 322 320 315 308 310
