As we all have what the functions of management are and the definitions of each function available in the text (and below), the response should not state what the four functions of the management are.

From our text, these are the definitions of the functions of management, also known as the management process.

The definitions from our text are below and in my first response.

"In management,planningis the process of setting performance objectives and determining what actions should be taken to accomplish them. When managers plan, they set goals and objectives and select ways to achieve them."

"Success begins withorganizing, the process of assigning tasks, allocating resources, and coordinating the activities of individuals and groups. When managers organize, they bring people and resources together to put plans into action."

"The management function ofleadingis the process of arousing people's enthusiasm to work hard and inspiring their efforts to fulfill plans and accomplish objectives. When managers lead, they build commitments to plans and influence others to do their best work in implementing them."

"Controllingis the process of measuring work performance, comparing results to objectives, and taking corrective action as needed."

This message can be called a feedfoward control in a way. We discuss these controls in week 5. Over my last two classes these are not the main focus in some of the posts. Daily planning is loosely planning and in most cases is more like "to do lists".
