2. I enjoyed reading your discussion response and found myself agreeing with many of your statements regarding social issues and the many factors that play a contribution and a resolve. The examples you listed are prominent in our country and the main components that constitute what a social problem may be. One example that I recently discussed with my own mother that exists in some cultures is gender inequality. The conversation was brought up by some personal experiences in being discriminated for our gender by extended family. Gender inequality may be viewed as acceptable in some countries, while in others it is a very serious issue that many have fought to change. Ideologies in politics may also have an impact on how issues are addressed and prioritized such as for those living in poverty, unable to obtain healthcare, or even global climate change.

3. Hi, Ms. Wilson and fellow classmates, I hope that you have had a wonderful weekend and an impressive Wednesday. A problem that occurs frequently in social situations is with communication or lack of thereof. Many issues that arise are due to a misunderstanding or misinterpretation of what is being said. Sometimes this occurs because one individual cannot decipher what another is trying to say. Often it is because there is a language barrier between two parties, whether due to annunciation or another language entirely. Then there are times one does not want to take the time to hear what another is saying. This is especially true for those that are in a disagreement and individuals are not listening to understand one another but more so to respond. Too often we as humans are on the defense, or do not want to listen purely because others have a different view. Many times, this problem persists because no one wants to be wrong or, in some cases, does not want to not seem as if they cannot find a solution on their own. But as the old saying goes "two heads are better than one." One could say that world peace can be achieved if individuals could communicate better. To do this, everyone must learn to take a moment to listen to what is being said, understand it or request clarity, and then respond appropriately.

5. The term "sociological imagination", is being able to recognize the relations between our personal experiences and history. This concept was established by C. Wright Mills (1916-1962). The concept outlines the understanding of the social world that are taken from our limited social experiences. This mindset provides the ability for individuals to realize the relationship between their personal experiences and larger society in which they live their lives. Sociological imagination, has the power to help distinguish between the personal and social levels in our own lives. Personal problems are not experienced as exclusively personal issues but are influenced.

6. Social imagination is where one has the ability to understand what is happening in other's personal lives through relationship and any social forces that surrounds them (Mills, 1959, Sullivan, 2015). This advice can give someone the ability to not only look at their personal problems always being self-inflicted, but yet seeing what problems the world has placed a barrier in each individuals lives depending on the situation. The world has standards that is always changing, but one in which people are stating to speak out against is where the world has place beauty standards at a high cost to one mentally and physically. Looking a certain way may not be what the world will see beautiful and it can make a person feel less worthy and ugly. It's not a personal thing but a social problem.
